What's Keto? Well if you do a Google search you'll find that keto is short for a ketogenic diet which is very popular at this current time for rapid weight loss.

It is a low-carb ,high-fat diet and what is happening is you are starving your body of carbs so that your body is force to eat the fat in your body. This is called going into ketosis. It is very similar to a diabetic diet. This is my basic understanding of it and there is a more scientific explanation of this regarding the sugar insulin and other things but you can look that up when you have time.

This website was very enlightening: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto

There have been plenty of success stories on this diet including a personal coworker of mine who's daughter and son-in-law have lost 50 to 80 lbs.

What makes this diet popular is the food options that you can eat compared to what you can't eat. Sure, you can't eat pasta, bread, drink milk and other items that you will be deprived of but the things you can eat like eggs, cheese, meat and veggies makes it a little easier once you get the right recipes and grocery list together.

The other night we made a broccoli bake which consist of fresh broccoli, turkey sausage, mozzarella cheese and eggs all thrown together and baked in the oven for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. All of this is keto friendly with there being vegetables, meat, cheese and eggs.

The family enjoyed this as everyone had a second helping. It was very filling. I am trying this diet out to see how it goes and because what else am I going to do?

Ingredients:

  • Fresh broccoli

  • 8 eggs

  • 2 cups of shredded mozzerella cheese

  • Ground sausage (we used turkey)

Directions:

  1. Boil broccoli in water for about 10 minutes

  2. Cook turkey sausage while the broccoli is boiling in another pan

  3. Mix 8 eggs together, set aside

  4. Once the sausage in the broccoli are done put the broccoli in a baking pan (I would spray with cooking oil prior to)

  5. Sprinkle the sausage over the broccoli

  1. Sprinkle the cheese over the sausage and broccoli

  2. Pour eggs over the cheese

  3. Bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees

  4. Enjoy

Very delicious!
