Happy Thanksgiving 2017

This year was the very first year I was to host Thanksgiving and I was a bit nervous about it, especially cooking the turkey. I would say that I am a pretty experienced cook but I have never cooked a bird that large. I was worried about overcooking it or undercooking it. I looked up many online articles about tips on baking a juicy turkey and took some of those with me on the big day (you can read more on those tips on my food category).
I also wanted to decorate to give our home that autumn feel. I looked online for tips for that too. I ended up shopping at Tuesday Morning and At Home to get my décor needs. The day that I went to At Home they were having a 50% off harvest décor AND I had a birthday 15% off coupon! I won!
I worked hard to get our home ready to entertain in and working all morning to cook the bird, along with some mashed potatoes, deviled eggs and assisting my hubby with the baked macaroni and cheese. I also made sure we had plenty of pink Moscato for the women to indulge in. The men enjoyed their Bud Light and Jack and Coke.
Ultimately, I believe my first hosting of Thanksgiving dinner was a success. Family enjoyed themselves, lots of talking and laughing. At the end we were all full and tipsy, that’s how it should be.
Did you all enjoy your Thanksgiving? I truly hope so! Now we have plenty of leftover turkey – you’ll see soon how I utilize it 😊
Enjoy the few pics I captured below to get a feel for the outcome.
