A message to my rainbow of Facebook friends...

Each and every one of you has crossed my path at one point or another and the experience was obviously positive because here we are, friends. Well, Facebook "friends" that is. 

When I see your face I think "Oh Jane Doe, I met her in high school" or "John Doe, I used to work for him". All of our meetings came of positive situations. If it didn't, we wouldn't be Facebook "friends". 

I'm happy for all of the great things you are doing in your life and I wish you well in your struggles. I get that you have friends too, people I've never met. You two laugh and crack jokes and I see them. I see them because it's Facebook, and it's there for all friends of friends to see. 

I don't agree with everything you two laugh at. Like the threats against Trump, calling females/males out their names or the negative remarks about Blacks....or Whites...or Mexicans...or Purple people (if there were Purple people, you'd find something). Because that's you and YOUR friend. 

Here's a bit of honesty though, you turn around and smile in my face or ask me how I'm doing. Maybe you'll like a post or send over a "Congrats" when the situation calls for it. But I have to tell you something...something you may not have realized and this may come as a shock to you.

I am...Black. I am...female. I am...Mexican. I am...White. I am...Christian. I am...a Green Bay Packer...lol just threw that in there. 

So when you're bashing a group of a category I fall into and then smile in my face....how should I feel? What should I do? Are you a hypocrit? 

I'll tell you what I do, I normally just shake my head and keep scrolling because it's not about me right? Just about the group of a category that I fall into. And let's face it, it's Facebook and people tend to be more outwardly ignorant there than in person.

Just think about that and ask yourself, do you really want to be acquainted with me? Or does it just make you look good? Or is it because I am an acceptance of the group of people you know nothing about yet degrade and look down upon? 

Think about it before you post publically about the hate that lives in your heart and unjustified prejudice...
